strong starts with concrete resources
Do you need a safe place for your baby to sleep?
Beginning at birth
Infant mortality is at crisis levels in the Milwaukee area. Many deaths could be prevented by ensuring infants have a safe place to sleep from the minute they arrive. For that reason, HOPE Network’s holistic support starts the instant a woman becomes a mother.
Through our partnership with Cribs for Kids we provide a new portable crib to every new or expecting mother who joins HOPE Network. Compact and convenient, these cribs make safe sleep easy and practical.
With their cribs, mothers receive safe sleep education from either a community partner or trained HOPE staff. During education, they practice assembling their new portable crib and learn how to ensure a safe environment every time their baby goes to sleep. They take home a folder with resources and parenting and infant health information to ensure they retain the information.
Mothers also receive a large layette bag filled with donated infant supplies. Our dedicated volunteers sew and assemble each layette bag - they are as unique as the families who receive them.
Each layette bag includes:
- A handmade quilt or afghan
- Receiving blankets
- Infant towels
- Board books
- A wearable blanket*
- A fitted crib sheet*
- Much more!
*These valuable tools promote safe sleep.
