Land Acknowledgement

We recognize that Milwaukee occupies the ancestral lands of the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Ho Chunk peoples, situated along the southwest shore of Lake Michigan, within the vast system of North America’s largest freshwater lakes. This area is where the Milwaukee, Menominee, and Kinnickinnic rivers converge, and where the indigenous communities of Wisconsin’s Menominee, Ojibwe, Ho Chunk, Oneida, and Mohican nations continue to thrive today. In honoring their enduring presence, we express our deep respect for and acknowledgment of native sovereignty.
